The AMMA-seminars are joint courses offered by the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Conservatory of Amsterdam (CvA).

Lecturers: Walter van de Leur, Barbara Titus, Maya Verlaak, Carolien Hermans en Otto Stuparitz.

Participants: The course is open to bachelor students from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (post-propaedeutic) and the Universiteit van Amsterdam on propaedeutic and post-propaedeutic level, and to world, pop, jazz, and classical music divisions.

Registration: Information about course registration can be found here. The course registration for the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025 will take place in spring (exact dates are to be announced).

You must register separately by the Conservatorium van Amsterdam at the CvA’s website. After providing your personal details, choose ‘Department: Academy for Musicology and Musicianship’ and ‘Education/Programme: AMMA Seminars’. 

Admission: You are required to upload your motivation letter in the form.

Special track

Follow a minor in the department of your interest and enrich your university study with a coherent programme which deepens your understanding performed and applied music theory.

Minor Music theory of Classical music (30 EC)

Language of instruction: English

Credits: 30 EC

Duration: 2 years

Participants: The minor is open to bachelor students from the University of Amsterdam (post-propaedeutic) of the second, third and fourth year.

Requirements: To join this minor UvA-students need to pass the entrance exam of the Classical department of the CvA. Find out more about level and content of this test here. 
The entrance exams are planned in the first two weeks of April 2024. 

Registration and application deadline: apply before March 15th 2024 by registering at the CvA’s website. After providing your personal details, choose ‘Department: Academy for Musicology and Musicianship’ and choose the special track of your choice by ‘Education/Programme’. Upload the required documents.

Duration: 2 years

Participants: The minor is open to bachelor students from the University of Amsterdam (post-propaedeutic) of the second, third and fourth year.

Requirements: To join this minor UvA-students upload recordings in the application form. The recordings will be assessed. By a positive evaluation students are invited to play their music at the CvA. Find out more about level and content of this test here.
The entrance exams are planned in the first weeks of April 2024.
